SXSW announced the 2017 Gaming Awards Nominees, Gamer’s Voice award categories and hosts for 2017 SXSW Gaming Awards. I will be on ground zero attending the SXSW Gaming weekend which takes place from Thursday, March 16, through Saturday, March 18 at the Austin Convention Center, and includes content throughout the SXSW Gaming Expo, Gaming Awards, and Gaming Program.
The Gaming Awards will be hosted by Xavier Woods and OMGitsfirefoxx and will celebrate 100 nominees across 23 categories. It will also include new additions such as Trending Game of the Year, Fan Creation of the Year, and Esports Game of the Year for 2017.
Video Game of the Year nominees for SXSW Gaming 2017 include Dishonored 2, DOOM, Overwatch, Titanfall 2, and Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, with Overwatch receiving a leading total of 10 nominations.
The Gamer’s Voice award categories which are dedicated to independent video, mobile, and tabletop games, will also return to the ceremony. With 44 nominees in total, these categories are voted on only by SXSW Gaming Expo attendees, with the winners revealed during the Gaming Awards show.
Online voting for all Gaming Awards categories, excluding Gamer’s Voice, will take place from Wednesday, January 25 through Friday, February 10. To vote for your favorite game click here or to attend the SXSW Gaming Awards click here.
