Laurel Canyon: A Place in Time is a documentary about a unique time in music history where musicians, hippies and creative types all lived in a rustic canyon in the heart of Los Angeles in the 1960’s and 1970’s. Slated to have premiered at SXSW 2020, the film celebrates the music of Joni Mitchell, Jackson Browne, Linda Ronstadt, Love, The Mamas And The Papas, Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, The Doors, Frank Zappa and more. Laurel Canyon provided an outlet for musicians to create some of the most influential and infamous albums.

SXSW 2020 Film Review: FOR MADMEN ONLY

FOR MADMEN ONLY is a documentary about the comedic legend, Del Close, that shows his journey of creating his autobiography for D.C. Comics titled “Wasteland.” Del Close co-authored the graphic horror anthology with John Ostrander and one story in almost every issue of Wasteland was an embellished portrayal taken from the comedian’s intriguing life. The 90-minute documentary directed by Heather Ross was slated to have its world premiere during the now canceled South By Southwest (SXSW) 2020 Film Festival as part of the Documentary Feature Competition category.

Help Local Businesses and Artists Stand With the City of Austin Due to the SXSW 2020 Cancellation

The cancellation of the 2020 SXSW Festival and Conferences due to concerns of the health and safety of attendees due to the Coronavirus has left several artists without venues to perform or screen their films. Furthermore, SXSW hugely impacts all local businesses, venues and restaurants in Austin bringing in nearly $300 million into the city which will now be lost revenue. The City of Austin Announces Cancellation of SXSW 2020 March Events Due to the Coronavirus

Even though there were concerns and petitions to cancel the SXSW 2020 Conference and Festival due to the massive spread of the coronavirus as of this morning it was still on surprisingly! Announced today, March 6th and just one week before the infamous SXSW Conference and Festival, the City of Austin have canceled the March dates for SXSW and SXSW EDU. SXSW has stated today that they will faithfully follow the City’s directions.

For the first year, you don’t need a credential to attend the SXSW free events! SXSW offers dozens of free events that include SXSW Outdoor Stage at Lady Bird Lake, SXSW Wellness Expo, SXSW Marketplace and Flatstock 73.

It’s hard to believe that SXSW 2020 is just one month with day 1 starting on March 13th in Austin, Texas.
