SXSW Festival happens annual in Austin, Texas and consists of Film, Music, Interactive, Gaming, Art, and SXSW EDU. This year SXSW will take place from March 13th through March 22nd with SXSW EDU running from March 9th through the 12th.

The 2020 SXSW EDU Season Kicks Off With PanelPicker on July 1st

The 2020 SXSW Conference will be held March 13-22, 2020, in beautiful downtown Austin, Texas. The 2020 SXSW EDU will also return March 9-12, 2020 for the 10th annual Conference & Festival. The SXSW EDU® Conference & Festival fosters innovation in learning by hosting a community of optimistic, forward-thinking, purpose-driven stakeholders with a shared goal of impacting the future of teaching and learning. Since inception, SXSW EDU has been largely driven by the greater community. This includes everything from programming tracks to session speakers. On Monday, July 1 SXSW will begin accepting session entries for SXSW EDU 2020 via PanelPicker.

Austin City Limits Festival Day Passes are NOW Available to Purchase & Day-by-Day Line-up Posts Today

The Austin City Limits (ACL) Festival just announced today that 1-day tickets for the festival are NOW on sale and the one & weekend two music lineup by day in now available on their site. ACL takes place annually in Austin, Texas at Zilker Park and this year’s festival dates are October 4th through the 6th for weekend 1 and October 11th through 13th for weekend 2. The lineup for ACL this year features Guns N’ Roses, Mumford & Sons, Childish Gambino, The Cure, Cardi B, Billie Eilish, Tame Impala, Robyn, and more than 125 performances across 8 different stages in Zilker Park. Each year the Paramount Theatre produces the Moontower Comedy Festival in downtown Austin, Texas and this year it will begin April 24th through the 27th. For 4 days the Moontower Comedy Festival will have over 100 performances, several podcast and parties throughout Austin. Ride|Austin Launches “Female Driver Mode” Feature Just in Time For SXSW 2019

While you are in Austin and attending SX besides Uber or Lyft why not try an Austin local ride sharing company that gives back to Austin non-profits? Ride|Austin just announced their new “Female Driver Mode” feature that is designed for female riders who feel more comfortable with a female driver. One may not understand why this feature is needed but I certainly do!

While at South By Southwest 2019 I had a male Uber driver verbally accost me and wouldn’t let me out of the car once stating I didn’t feel safe. The Uber app wasn’t working to end my ride since I was downtown near the convention center and service is always slow during SXSW. As an Austin local, I regret my decision to not book Ride|Austin instead.

City of Austin Announces City Plans for Dockless Scooters and Bike Transportation for 2019 Spring Festival Season

Over the last year dockless scooters have been a major mode of transportation in Austin especially for students or those that live downtown and now for SXSW 2019. For the very first time South by Southwest (SXSW) conference and spring festival attendees will have the opportunity to utilize the dockless scooters and bikes but there are limits to where people can ride them. According to the city’s Mobility Committee, there are 7 licensed dockless scooter operators that include BirdLimeLyft, and Jump (Uber), Spin, and student-oriented VeoRide.

HIVE 2018 “Reignite the Dream” Conference Recap

Last week I attended the HIVE “Reignite the Dream” conference in Austin, Texas. It was two days of learning about smart home technology, green home initiatives, and technology innovations that will be transforming the housing market of today and the future. I did not know that housing is the last industry in the country which is still building with 19th Century technology.
