We wrote our first coronavirus article for Hi-Tech Chic after 2 French and Korean ex-pats based in Taiwan emailed us asking if we could review their new app (& the 1st on market), the “coronavirus app.” The 2 French and Korean Exp-pats created the app after being stuck in Taiwan as the pandemic grew. Since then we have received pitches 24/7 of coronavirus/ COVID-19 related apps, learning tools and consumer products. After realizing we were writing about the pandemic several times a week since January, we created the “COVID-19” page on Hi-Tech Chic.Continue Reading →

As CES (Consumer Electronic Show) gets closer and closer I am constantly getting emails about meetings or new product launches while there. This year, unlike the previous 7 years, I had to become choosy on what I wanted to cover before and while at CES 2017.
SXSW 2017 is fast approaching, in fact it was just announced that the SXSW Gaming Conference wristbands are now available to purchase. Back in the day when you would think about SXSW gaming wasn’t the first thing that comes to mind but times are changing! SXSW Gaming Conference will begin on Thursday, March 16 through Saturday, March 18 at the Austin Convention Center.
The SXSW Gaming.Conference & Festival is a combination of geek and gaming culture with Expos, Awards, and Programming. Not only is the Gaming Conference the fastest growing phenomenon at SXSW, this year they have expanded the Gaming Expo, Gaming Awards, and Gaming Program lineup. Continue Reading →
The World’s Smallest Wireless Bluetooth Headphones with Mic and Portable Charging Case have arrived! Rowkin sent me their new Mini Wireless Bluetooth® Earbuds to test out for Cutegeek and Hi-Tech Chic. When I unboxed them I was pleasantly surprised! It was an exciting moment for me since I haven’t had truly wireless stereo earbuds with no cord connecting the earbuds. I couldn’t wait to check them out.
When you receive the earbuds the package will include: TWO (2) Rowkin Bit wireless earbuds to operate in the stereo Bluetooth headphones mode, various earbud tips, and the patented dual-earbud conductive portable charging system. The battery in the wireless headphones allows up to 3 hours for music and calls on a single charge. The small lipstick size portable charger can fully recharge the Bluetooth headset twice, providing additional 4-6 hours worth of music or talk time. After you unbox the charger and the earbuds you will need to attach both earbuds to the opposite ends of the charger to get a good charge before you begin pairing and syncing them via Bluetooth to your mobile device. Once charged take them off the charger and turn them both on making sure the earbuds are next to each other so they can sync with each other. Your smart device should be able to detect via Bluetooth and once found click connect. Continue Reading →
Happy National Techies Day to all my Cutegeek and Hi-Tech Chic geeks! I’ve been in tech for almost 12 years and this is the first I heard about National Techies Day but any day to celebrate our love for technology and fixing technology is awesome. Food for thought; how many techies know its National Techies Day? Not many I assume considering the lab and confetti nor balloons do not mix.
In all seriousness today is National Techies Day and observed annually on October 3. During National Techies Day it is said students are encouraged to consider a career in technology. In honor of National Techies Day take your fellow IT guy or gal, Tech Guru, or “I can break any tech products” in the office buddy to lunch or happy hour.
This weeks National days are listed below and click here is the link to find “National” days throughout the year. Also here is a link to all my bloopers of reviewing technology: https://www.hi-techchic.com/videos/gag-reel-videos/. Again happy National Techies Day to my fellow geeks! Continue Reading →
TGIF Hi-Tech Chic fans!
This years event is said to be one of the largest conventions in Texas. will have a 45,000 square-foot vendor and event hall to showcase and celebrate classic and retro video games. The two day fest includes free play on hundreds of retro game systems and arcades, retro game tournaments, costume contests, live video game musicians, a retro game museum and a large marketplace to sell, fix or buy your own retro games and consoles.*
Though most want to see my Waldo costume I’m changing it up a bit with my LED shoelaces, Flashton Statement LED shirt and retro hi tops. Also, since it’s National Dance Day on Saturday I will be doing the “running man” in front of as many booths as I can and will post the videos on YouTube. If you see me come take a picture of me and do the running man next to me or Kid n’ Play. I will also be at the Tekforce show on Sunday at noon.
AND GET THIS….
The Classic Game Fest will also be hosting a Pokemon Go meetup area complete with ongoing lures during the festivities! There are TONS of PokeStops near the event, and there’s even a Gym across the event lawn.
I hope those that reside in Austin will be attending one of the largest retro gaming convention. If not you can find me or send a DM to @nrpena.
Today I published two more pages on the Hi-Tech Chic site; Videos and Gag Reel. After 7 years of writing for technology I realized I have more videos than I thought I did. It also reminded me of how much fun I have had working for Cutegeek, Examiner and now Hi-Tech Chic (my own company).
This is just the beginning of what I hope to be a long career writing for technology. Thanks to all the followers and fans! There is more to come in 2016!
Over the past 11 months Hi-Tech Chic has grown leaps and bounds. Since this site is mine I work everyday to make the site better, work to get unique technology and newest fashions to review.
Last week Hi-Tech Chic, with much excitement, launched its Awards program with 8 different logos for each category (see below). This is our first new page and program since Hi-Tech Chic Launched. As we continue to expand we will keep on adding new categories and pages.
For more information and how to qualify your products click here. If you would like to contact us in regards to the awards program please emails firstname.lastname@example.org or DM meet on twitter @nrpena or fill out the form on the very bottom on this page.
