St. John Spring 2022 Collection at NYFW

On Thursday, September 9, 2021, St. John (SJ), an American luxury house, revealed its Spring 2022 collection during New York Fashion Week (NYFW) at the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) show. In the St. John’s Spring 2022 Collection, Creative Director Zoe Turner kept consistent with the brand’s codes of knitwear while developing a signature style of romantic attitude for dressing.

Within the collection, the key silhouette of the season is the unassuming cardigan, which is elevated in a smart yet soft jacket. It is paired with a cool layering piece in patchwork boucle, and a figure-skimming button-down dress in stretch knitted tweed.

Nature and its beauty with springtime florals run through the collection on a jacquard knit coat, soft tea dresses and slouchy ankle-length print skirts. Signature SJ buttons are transformed into tiny poppy stems slipped through buttonholes like keepsakes from a walk in the field while dandelion jewels settle on the ear, and in the hair as a soft finishing touch.

St. John’s unique textiles are reworked as delicate checks in the form of shirt jackets with matching button-through skirts, while softly frayed plaids bring a different approach to femininity. Metal zippers slice up and down tweed jackets and skirts revealing layers hidden beneath, or a little skin for the more daring.

In the Spring 2022 collection, new looks include a strapless tweed bustier paired with relaxed matching tweed cargo pants. In addition the evening wear, long peignoir translucent dresses are delicate and dramatic with a matching cape hugging the shoulders, highlighting transparency in the art of layering.
