GDC 2019 Passes, Student Expo Pass and Low-Income Pass Lottery Information

The Game Developers Conference (GDC) 2019 is just around the corner and will take place on March 18th through the 22nd at the Moscone Convention Center in San Francisco. GDC is the world’s largest professional game industry event with several education and networking opportunities for attendees.

This year GDC consists of the GDC Conference, GDC Expo, 18th Annual Game Developers Choice Awards, 2nd Annual GDC Film Festival, The Independent Games Festival, Virtual Reality Developers Conference, GDC Summits, Gamasutra, and several GDC panels. GDC registration is still open and below are your passes options.

GDC Passes

The GDC passes start at $149.00 for an expo pass while the five-day conference starts at $1049.00. Tickets can be purchased here: https://www.gdconf.com/attend/passes.  If that price is too steep there are other ways to attend GDC 2019, see below.

Student Expo Pass

GDC also offers a Friday Student Expo Pass for $79 which is available for purchase on-site only on Friday, March 22, 2019 at the Moscone Center. Must be at least 18 years old and provide proof of current enrollment (i.e. a valid student ID).

Low-Income Pass Lottery

Enter the Low Income Pass Lottery by January 11, 2019 for an opportunity to win a complimentary GDC 2019 Expo Plus Pass, intended for people who would otherwise not be able to attend without considerable financial assistance. Guidelines:

  • One entry per person
  • You may enter for this pass each year if you have need
  • If you are awarded a pass, GDC will automatically register you
  • Low Income passes are non-transferrable and have no cash value
  • If you have already purchased a pass to GDC 2019, you are not eligible
  • The Lottery drawing winner will be announced via email in January before the early registration deadline to allow you to take advantage of the discount if not selected

Apply to Work for an All Access Pass

If you are eligible to work in the United States of America and would like to work for 25 hours during GDC from Sunday, March 17 through Friday, March 22, 2019, apply to be a Conference Associate (CA). CA’s help monitor sessions, scan badges, answer attendee questions, and other tasks in exchange for an All Access Pass that can be used during off hours and a little extra money.

GDC offers dedicated passes for the Independent Games Summit and the Audio Conference+Tutorial program. Please visit each program page for information to register for dedicated passes.
