Press Release: New Art & Fashion Coloring Books from Yves Saint Laurent and Jean Cocteau

Coloring Books

One of the things my niece likes to do is color and as an adult those coloring books are no fun. Recently adult colouring books have become very popular and the industry continues to expand. Arsenal Pulp Press has announced two new adult colouring books for enthusiast of French fashion, art and film. The fashion colouring books are inspired by two French icons: fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent and playwright and filmmaker Jean Cocteau.

If you are either pursuing fashion, a mom (or aunt) who likes to color with your daughter (or niece) or an artist these colouring books are breathe of fresh air. In fact I think these both would be cute mother’s day presents if paired with Staedtler Triangular colored pencils that can be found here.

I’m requesting samples of both colouring books so I can do a review to let you guys know what I think along with pages I coloured. Hopefully Staedtler will send me some colored pencils as well so I have the full colouring experience. (wink wink).

Below is more information about the Yves Saint Laurent and Jean Cocteau colouring books provided by Arsenal Pulp Press. Also, if you are interested in purchasing the Jean Cocteau colouring book click here and if you want to purchase the Yves Saint Laurent colouring book click here.

Yves Saint Laurent

This elegant, imaginative colouring books explores the dynamic, fanciful creations of iconic fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent, who headed the House of Dior at the age of twenty-one before launching his own design house at age twenty-five. He became famous for the “beatnik” look in the ’60s, as well as for creating the tuxedo suit for women, and his extraordinary life was the subject of a recent feature film, Saint Laurent.

The book’s line drawings for colouring are based on many of the designer’s original sketches for dresses over the years, accompanied by full-colour photos of the dresses for reference. In these pages, one can see the breadth and versatility of his creations; there are designs inspired by harlequins and the Carnival of Venice, Pop Art and Mondrian, and the cultures of Asia, Africa, and beyond. Colourists will in turn be inspired to match Saint Laurent’s vivid creations, or to create chic new colour combinations of their own.

The Yves Saint Laurent Coloring Book is for fashionistas, colouring books enthusiasts, and others with an interest in the history of fashion and in the life of this extraordinary designer.

Jean Cocteau

In this lavish colouring book for adults, the fanciful, elegant world of artist, playwright, and filmmaker Jean Cocteau comes alive. As a playwright, he is best known for The Human Voice (1930); as a filmmaker, for directing Beauty and the Beast (1946) and Orpheus (1948). In the 1910s, he was a prominent member of the Paris avant-garde, forming friendships and professional relationships with Picasso, Stravinsky, Gide, Proust, and Apollinaire. His paintings and graphic art were playful, fantastical expressions, exploring mythological themes and subjects, personal portraits, and domestic scenes.

This colouring book includes many of Jean Cocteau‘s graphic drawings ready to be coloured in, alongside original illustrations for reference. It also includes images from the original film poster for Beauty and the Beast, playful doodles that Cocteau included in written letters to his lover Jean Marais, and drawings of Parisien women, cats, sleeping figures, circus performers, and other figures emanating from Cocteau’s imagination.

The Jean Cocteau Colouring Book is a captivating activity book for adults that also serves as a primer on the work of this inspiring artist.

Solar Power with energysage

My first apartment after graduating was a property who had only solar paneling in Austin, Texas. It was also the same apartment Office Space was filmed at! Given this was in the 90’s and it’s Texas (known for our over 100 degree weather during the summer) the concept was not planned out well. Furthermore we have cold winters and an entire season of cold showers made me fed up and I moved.

Though I had a bad experience with solar 15 years ago I was informed how many changes were made for solar power recently when I met a lady who works for EnergySage. I learned how solar power has grown and improved in the past ten years as we continue to be aware of our ecosystem and how we impact it. In fact, the solar industry has supplied 40% of all new 2015 electric generating capacity which is more than any other energy technology. Currently, solar panels are installed in roughly a million homes in the U.S. It is a growing industry and trying to find the right company to install solar for your home or business can sometimes be challenging.

Introducing EnergySage, a great source of information that can provide comprehensive coverage of consumer shopping behavior, solar installation pricing, and solar financing. Today, over 10,000 people use EnergySage each year to get multiple solar quotes from their network of over 300 pre-screened solar installers.

How do I switch to solar with EnergySage?

The process is fairly simple to get a quote and also similar to using any of the travel sites. To get started go to the EnergySage site, and create your property profile. Once that is completed you will start receiving quotes online from pre-screened installers. Once you have compared various quotes and picked your ideal quote online your next step is working with the friendly staff at EnergySage.

EnergySage doesn’t just help you search for the best solar options they have hundreds of articles, infographics, videos about the aspects of solar and a solar calculator to estimate the solar potential of your home. They also have the Solar Marketplace to request, receive & compare solar quotes plus they have a team of Solar Advisors to help you with your solar loan or financing questions.

EnergySage is the best price comparison site for implementing solar for your home and business. If you are interested in learning more about EnergySage click here or you can call them at 888-838-4638.

Creep: An Online Short Film

Recently my friend Stephen Burke wrote an online short film called Creep and I volunteered to help spread the word for this film.

For those who aren’t familiar with this concept Web video is a unique form of entertainment that has different requirements than traditional films or television.  Per Stephen Burke,Creep was made specifically for the web in an attempt to bridge some traditional storytelling with the excitement and immediacy of online video.”

The main goal of Creep was to tell as minimal a story as possible while still delivering maximum emotional impact and a good scare.  I have watched the film several times and they weren’t lying about a good scare; pretty sure I can’t look into a mirror for a while.

Creep was shot in one day with minimal crew and its production was completed in three weeks. Creep has been accepted on Film Shortage (an online portal for short films) and recently was well received at a local Bay area festival.

In an effort to spread the word about Creep I’m asking Hi-Tech Chic fans to help by clicking on the below links and share the film with friends and family.

  1. If you’re on facebook:  “Like” this page:
  2. Share any of the following links on facebook, twitter, instagram, e-mail, handwritten note, etc! or

  1. Encourage your friends to share!

Lastly for your viewing pleasure here is the film Creep! Enjoy!

Tech Talk Video with at SV Comic Con 2016

Echo InterviewWhile I attended the Silicon Valley Comic Con I was asked randomly to do a quick interview on camera with the Echo it team. The timing couldn’t have been more perfect because I was about to pull a Houdini and leave the convention center for the day.

Echo it is a Bay Area company where you can suggest improvements directly to brands, and receive support from other consumers to show market demand on their site.

At Silicon Valley Comic Con the Echo it team asked questions about current and future technology.

On of the questions I was asked  was “What technology I can’t live without?” I think this is the same response across the board, my smart phone. I honestly don’t even know anyone’s number by memory, if I lost my iPhone I would be screwed.

It’s easy to post your suggestion on the site which are called Echoes by just typing the company name in and the product or services. If you are interested in posting a suggestion for Echo it click here and start posting echoes!

And without further ado here is the youtube of their findings while attending Silicon Valley Comic Con (FYI my portion is 1:33 into the video).
