Samsung to Globally Launch Their New CJ79 Curved QLED Monitor at IFA 2018 

At CES 2018, Samsung previewed a few curved QLED displays to be released later in 2018. This week Samsung announced it will be launching its CJ79 curved QLED monitor worldwide with distribution to Europe first at IFA later this week. The new CJ79 (Model name: C34J791) 34-inch curved QLED display is the world’s first with Thunderbolt 3 and features a 3,440 x 1,440 quantum dot screen (including a 125 percent sRGB color gamut), a wide 21:9 aspect ratio and a four-millisecond response time. Curious on what technology is being used at the 2018 Olympic Winter Games? If you have been watching the games you may wonder how we are getting great live coverage from the cameras on the luge to the aerial footage used during the snowboarding events. Technology has been all over the Olympics and with Intel as their partner they have stepped it up a notch. The technology we were first immersed in for the Olympics started with Intel’s 1,000 drone display during the Opening Ceremony. Opening Ceremony of the 2018 Olympic Winter Games and LIVE Coverage Information

Yesterday was the opening ceremony of the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in Pyeong Chang, Korea. The overall theme of the ceremony besides technology was peace and hope as North and South Korea united for the winter games. The ceremony featured 2,900 athletes from roughly 90 nations. The technology advanced stadium was built specifically for the winter games and the displays throughout the ceremony was mind blowing.   The stadium combines various circles, squares and triangles geometric forms which represent heaven, earth and mankind. Throughout the entire ceremony there were elaborate digital and light displays along with fireworks plus several different regional dance performances that included fire.   Continue Reading →

Intel Partners with the Olympic Games Effective Immediately After McDonald’s Departure

On June 16th it was announced by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), McDonald’s Worldwide and The Olympic Partners (TOP) that the Partnership will end with immediate effect. At the time of that announcement the IOC had no immediate plans to appoint a direct replacement in the retail food operations sponsorship category, and will review the category in the broader context of existing Olympic marketing programmes. SXSW 2017 Interactive Recap; Part One

SXSW (South By South West) this year is the first year that I covered it solely for Hi-Tech Chic and it proved to be a very successful SXSW thus far as press.
