As South By Southwest (SXSW) approaches more announcements about the Music Festival and Innovation awards for the event running from March 8th through the 16th in Austin, Texas. Below are the latest news on the Music Festival and Innovation Awards.
SXSW Music Updates
The third round of Showcasing Artists for the Music Festival from March 11-16 has been announced adding to the over 340 artists joining SXSW from all corners of the globe.
The 2024 SXSW Music Festival includes Flyana Boss, a viral dynamic duo bringing live rap reports straight from LA; Bootsy Collins, legendary funk and R&B maestro, consummate character, and James Brown’s pupil, is ready to groove with us; and J Noa, the Dominicana rapsmith with clever wordplay and a double-tempo skillset that’ll leave you mesmerized.
Also announced are Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney of The Black Keys, a six-time Grammy-winning band. Not only are they Official Showcasing Artists, but they have also recently been added as a Keynote for the SXSW Conference and will make a splash on the SXSW Film & TV screen with the world premiere of This is a Film About The Black Keys.
Additionally, STRFKR is ushering in a new era with their album Parallel Realms; alongside Chih Siou, the enigmatic artist defying genres with a lucid mix of electronic and folk-pop; Belfast’s own Kneecap, the trio that merges Irish and English in satirical socially conscious lyrics; and London musician signed to XL Recording, Fabiana Palladino. SXSW Innovation Awards Updates
For the 2024 SXSW Innovation Awards this year’s group of 50+ finalists provide a glimpse of the future across 11 different categories ranging from Artificial Intelligence to Health & Biotech and Community Empowerment.
On the evening of Monday, March 11, category winners, plus additional honors, will be revealed at the 25th annual SXSW Innovation Awards Ceremony hosted by 3x Grammy nominee SaulPaul. Finalists were chosen by a jury of industry judges from the hundreds of entries received by SXSW in the fall of 2023.
Before the ceremony, these 50+ digital projects will be available for SXSW attendees to interact with at the Innovation Awards Finalist Showcase. The Showcase will take place on Saturday, March 9 from 2pm-5pm in Griffin Hall at the JW Marriott Downtown Austin. The Finalist Showcase offers SXSW registrants an up close look at the most exciting and impactful tech developments from a diverse set of companies from around the globe. Attendees also get the chance to place their vote for the People’s Choice Award.
The 2024 SXSW Hall of Fame inductee Margrethe Vesteger and the Community Service Awards recipients will also be honored during the SXSW Innovation Awards Ceremony. A SXSW Badge is required to attend both the Finalist Showcase and Awards Ceremony.
