The space of Ray’s is considered an installation by artist Matt McCormick which is being transported to Austin, making the pop-up space an art installation for the public. In true Ray’s style, inspiration from American dive bar culture is present.

Guests will see checkered floors, booths, lighting like Ray’s NYC bar, but with a little southern twist to reflect Austin. The two-day experience will include a homestyle cookout, tattoos, live music, and other interactive elements that will make the whole house and both of its floors feel like a playground.

ABOUT RAY’S BAR

A collaboration between restaurateurs Justin Theroux, Carlos Quirarte, Jon Neidich, Ray’s bar was inspired by the comfort of the local hometown bar found all over America, but developed with true New Yorkers in mind.

When conceiving the visual identity for the bar, the team was inspired to engage artist and friend Matt McCormick to collaborate on the project, whose Americana-style artistic and branding direction compliments Somer’s and Neidich’s design of the space. On the Chrystie Street exterior, guests are welcomed by a mural of Ray himself, a cowboy plucked straight out of New Mexico. On the interior, wood paneling and living room-like furniture offers an easy setting to slingback beers and snack on peanuts and corn nuts.

An unassuming haven in Lower Manhattan, Ray’s offers stellar hospitality in a setting that makes it easy to return time and again. Actor Nick Braun and musician Mark Ronson are Ray’s regulars, and celebrities such as A$AP Rocky, Dua Lipa, Zoë Kravitz, Channing Tatum, Aziz Ansari,  Antoni Porowski and have all spent evenings at Ray’s since its opening in July 2019.
