LA Fashion Week to Kick off Event w/ Fashion Reimaged Documentary

LA Fashion Week, under new management N4xt Experiences, long-time producers of New York Fashion Week takes place from October 18th through October 22nd. This year N4xt Experiences is relaunching LA Fashion week with a new focus on sustainability. For the rebooted event, Fashion Reimagined, a documentary directed and produced by Canadian Filmmaker Becky Hutner, will screen on opening night.

The documentary focuses on fashion designer, Amy Powney, who is on a mission to create a sustainable collection from farm to closet and transform the way we engage with fashion. But making change in an industry that’s unregulated and shrouded in secrecy begs the question – can fashion ever be sustainable?

Fashion designer of cult label Mother of Pearl, Amy Powney, is a rising star in the London fashion scene. But raised off-the-grid in rural England by activist parents, Amy has always felt uneasy about the devastating environmental impact of her industry.

When she wins the coveted Vogue award for the Best Young Designer of the Year, which comes with a big cash prize, Amy decides to use the money to create a sustainable collection from field to finished garment, and transform her entire business. Over the following three years, her own personal revolution becomes the precursor of a much bigger, societal change.

The documentary is currently streaming internationally. To find a screening please visit https://www.fashionreimaginedfilm.com/international-screenings. To learn more about Fashion Reimagined please visit https://www.fashionreimaginedfilm.com/.
