For those who want to attend SXSW 2026 but do not want to purchase a badge, the “Austin Sounds” showcase is open to the public. Powered by EQ and in partnership with the City of Austin, KUTX & SXSW, Austin Sounds is an official SXSW showcase series celebrating the city’s vibrant and diverse music community.

For seven nights, EQ will host an all-Austin SXSW showcases at Lefty’s Brick Bar. This weeklong series highlights Austin-based artists across genres from Latin music, hip hop and R&B to punk, Americana and indie rock.
The showcase will be all free and open to the public with no SXSW credentials required. Night 1 features Gummy Fang, Almost Heaven, Gran Moreno and former KUTX Artist of the Month Big Bill.
Shows take place nightly at Lefty’s Brick Bar (1813 East 6th Street), starting at 7:00 p.m. local time.
While in Austin, visit the new location of Waterloo Records on Wednesday, March 11th for an artist meet and greet which is also free to the public with no wristband or badge needed. Music will be courtesy of KUTX’s DJ Shani of The Groove Temple, a weekly program exploring of the Black side of Electronic Music, which can be heard weekly on Friday from 11 pm -12 am (CST).
