77th Annual Cannes Film Festival 2024 Guide

On May 14, 2024, the 77th edition of the Cannes Film Festival will commence in the town of Cannes on the Côte d’Azur, concluding on May 25, 2024. For the 77th annual Cannes Film Festival American filmmaker and actress Greta Gerwig will serve as jury president for the main competition while French actress Camille Cottin will host the opening and closing ceremonies.

This year over 35,000 global festival goers (160 countries on average each year) and from all different cultures, will attend film screenings throughout the aisles of the Marché du Film. The festival zone includes the Palais and the Riviera as well as the International Village and its boundaries extend as far as the Cinéma de la Plage. Please note, access to the zone is restricted to festival-goers, who must show their badge in order to enter.

Cannes Festival Badge and Screening

Only those with accreditation for the Festival or parallel sections (Directors’ Fortnight, Semaine de la Critique, ACID and Cannes Cinéma) may access the online ticket office and can thus make reservations, subject to availability. For each screening and based on your type of accreditation determines the time at which tickets are available. Cinéma de la Plage 2024 : The Festival de Cannes under the stars

Every day at 9:30PM, the Festival de Cannes reinvents itself as night falls, transforming the Croisette’s Plage Macé, opposite the Majestic hotel, into an open-air cinema. In addition to the screenings, meetings and Official Selection events held at the Palais des Festivals, this is another way for everyone to get involved to the great cinema party.

On the program for the 77th Festival: teams on stage, world premieres, suspense, action, Jackie Chan, Brian De Palma, Martin Scorsese, Rachid Bouchareb, Tony Gatlif, Danny Boyle, the continuation of the tribute to Studio Ghibli, and much more. The evening is open to festival-goers and all audiences, with a choice “warm-up” act every evening: the duo TwinSelecter. Rock, pop, soul, funk, punk, mambo, electro, film soundtracks, jazz, disco, psychedelic, hiphop, garage, to get you going before the screening!

Cannes and Paris 2024 Olympics

The Festival de Cannes and the City of Cannes are gearing up for Paris 2024! Sports personalities and athletes will be the guests of an exceptional evening on Tuesday, May 21, for the premiere screening of Mickaël Gamrasni’s documentary Olympiques! La France des Jeux, with its most prestigious ambassador, the Olympic flame!

Tony Estanguet, Marie-José Pérec, Thierry Rey, Iliana Rupert, Marie Patouillet, Nélia Barbosa, Alexis Hanquiquant, Christine Caron and Brahim Asloum will flank Arnaud Assoumani (Paralympic Champion in Para Athletics), who will carry the Olympic flame onto the red carpet. Paris 2024, in agreement with the Mairie de Cannes, is offering the flame to the Festival, as a preview on the red carpet, before it is welcomed in the City of Cannes by all Cannois on June 18.
