For the second year in a row, Boston-based and Black-owned business, 195essential, has partnered with BAGLY, Inc, a youth-led, adult-supported social support organization committed to social justice, and creating, sustaining, and advocating for programs for Pride Month. Today, 195essential launched their limited-edition Pride Shirts with 50% of the proceeds from these shirts going to support the work done by BAGLY.
The ‘Essential Pride’ release features two designs to celebrate, honor, and support the LGBTQ+ community. The money raised will be used to fund essential services BAGLY has set up to support the LGBTQ+ community, along with food, community center supplies, events and programs, outreach, and to support their free health clinic.
For over thirty years, BAGLY’s weekly programming and annual social events have provided safe, supportive, non-exploitative, and culturally competent spaces where LGBTQ+ youth can access social support and services, develop leadership, and build community. Over 3,000 youth ages 22 and under who are LGBTQ+ or questioning their sexual/gender identity participate in BAGLY’s Boston-based programming every year.
“BAGLY, Inc plays such an instrumental role for the LGBTQ+ youth of Boston, and we are honored to celebrate Pride by partnering with their organization for a second year,” said Lena Harris, Co-founder of 195essential. “By donating a portion of sales from our Pride t-shirts to BAGLY, we hope to alleviate some of the stresses that they and the LGBTQ+ community face on an ongoing basis, along with issues they are currently facing as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.”
195essential’s Pride shirts will be available for presale on Wednesday, June 9th and will ship to customers on Monday, June 21st. To purchase a 195essential Pride shirt and support BAGLY, Inc, please visit www.195essential.com.
