Wren + Glory founder and designer Gloria Bijou collaborated with New York-based artist and first-generation Cambodian-American Desiree Sok to launch its latest exclusive drop, the “AAPI Love” jacket. Making a statement against AAPI hate, the “AAPI Love” jacket, uniquely designed by Desiree Sok (a.k.a. Desiree J0y), is now available to purchase on the Wren + Glory site.
The jacket is black hooded denim emblazoned with an eye-catching, street art-inspired design that reads “Hate is a Virus,” and features a young Asian American woman and a heart with the #AAPI hashtag. Imbued with a simple, timeless aesthetic that harks back to vintage 1960s posters, the jacket is a one-of-a-kind wearable statement on social justice.
“Pacifism is such a foundational part of our religions and cultures, and that has made us an easy target for a long time. But the recent violence — hate crimes against Asian Americans are up nearly 2000 percent — has been cowardly, insane, and heart-wrenching,” says Sok. “‘Hate is a Virus’ is a statement we can deliver with strength and visibility, remaining true to the strong Wren + Glory brand. We don’t mince words.”
