Planning season for the 2020 South By Southwest (SXSW) Music Festival has begun and they have just announced that July 1st is opening day for Showcasing Artist Applications. This year’s festival will take place March 16-22 with performances in bars, clubs, parks, churches, and hotels around downtown Austin, Texas. The SXSW Showcasing Artist Application is not limited by genre or regional focus, everyone from every field can apply.
Each year, new and developing or established Showcasing Artists from 60+ countries are represented amongst the 2,000 official performers looking to enhance their careers. In collaboration with record labels, SXSW showcases include booking agencies, management, and PR firms, export offices, publishers, media outlets, lifestyle brands, festivals, and more.
Showcasing Artist Applications for the 2020 SXSW Music Festival will open on Monday, July 1 and the early application deadline is September 13, 2019 at 11:59 PM PT with an application fee of $35.00. The FINAL application deadline is October 25, 2019 at 11:59 PM PT with an application fee of $55.00.
Invited Artists are guaranteed at least one showcase slot:
- Showcase slots run an average of 40 minutes (some exceptions may apply)
- Slots will be scheduled March 16-22, 2020 generally between 7pm-2am (exceptions do apply)
- Venue, time and date assignment will vary
- Please note: SXSW does not provide artist backline or cover travel and accommodation expenses.

This year’s Music Tracks are Creating & Monetizing Music, which focuses on songwriting, marketing, sync licensing, streaming, brand partnerships, touring and live events and more, and Future of Music, which looks at music’s future through technological, business, and cultural lenses.
