Hurricane Harvey and Irma Volunteering and Donation Sites

As a Texan who has family in Houston, Harvey was a major deviation to the city of Houston and people’s homes. I can only imagine how much fear residence in Miami are feeling right now!

Per CNN, there are currently 10,265 Miami-Dade residents at shelters throughout the county, per communications director Mike Hernandez. Thirteen shelters have been opened and five of those are already at capacity, Hernandez says.

Helpful Sites for Hurricane Irma Updates

While the golf coast is still recovering from Hurricane Harvey, we now wait to see what damage Hurricane Irma will do. Hurricane Irma is now at a Category 5, one of the strongest storms ever recorded in the Atlantic. The storm is one of three hurricanes in the Atlantic basin, the first time since 2010 that three active hurricanes have been in the Atlantic, according to CNN Weather. Yesterday Irma plowed through Puerto Rico, Haiti, Dominican Republic and also hit a few small northern Caribbean islands where at least 10 people were killed.
