Last week, MOSCOT, the renowned New York City eyewear institution, opened its first brick-and-mortar shop in Texas. Founded from a pushcart on Manhattan’s Lower East Side, the 107-year-old family-owned institution’s new shop will be located in Austin, Texas on South Congress (SOCO).
“Austin was an easy choice for our next Shop location. South Congress is known for novel boutiques and independently owned shops, allowing MOSCOT to feel right at home amongst our neighbors—while bringing with us a dash of NYC DNA.” – Dr. Harvey Moscot, 4th Generation & CEO.
Located on a street known for its boutiques, trendy lodging options, and Austin-original eateries, MOSCOT’s SOCO location is at 1206 South Congress Ave with 1,000 square feet of retail space.
The new shop will sell the entire assortment of MOSCOT’s signature eyeglasses, sunglasses, and Custom Made Tints™, with a specifically designed area to perform eye exams coming in the next few months. To celebrate the opening of the Austin Shop, MOSCOT will release an exclusive and limited run of The SoCo Fade Tint, available in the brand’s quintessential LEMTOSH frame, celebrating the warm neutral tones of this rich landscape.
MOSCOT brings over a century of optical expertise and its signature old-world charm, merchandising the Shop with vintage artifacts from the family archives, tin ceilings made in New York, and custom-built light fixtures that bring a dose of downtown New York DNA to Austin’s buzzing South Congress neighborhood.
