Today, Homme+Femme, the black-owned brand, announced their second collaboration with Churchill Downs for a Kentucky Derby collection. Honoring the African American Horseman’s history of the Kentucky Derby, Homme + Femme is putting its mark on the historic event with its collection.
The collection includes Homme+Femme’s signature varsity jackets, traditional workout blazer cardigans, crewneck sweatshirts, tees, and hats. Creating an inclusive collection that merges the cultures, the second collection for the Kentucky Derby, is infused with the southern prep style known and loved by the Kentucky Derby fans and Homme+Femme’s streetwear heritage.
History of Black horsemen and the Kentucky Derby are intertwined with 15 of the first 28 Kentucky Derbies being won by Black jockeys. As a Black-owned brand, Homme+Femme pulls inspiration from this rich history to create a collection that celebrates diversity and inclusiveness.
Homme+Femme and Churchill Downs brought their unique point of view together on the collaboration. Their goal to curate a collection that is a modern take on a prestigious institution giving an opportunity to break barriers in the sport through fashion.
