Vivienne Westwood’s Made-to-Order and Couture 2021 Bridal Collection at New York Bridal Fashion Week

This week, Vivienne Westwood, a world-renown designer and businesswoman, virtually revealed her new Made-to-Order and Couture Bridal Collection for 2021 during New York Bridal Fashion Week. Composed of made-to-order gowns and skillfully crafted couture looks, each piece of the collection is reminiscent of a significant moment from the Westwood archive and her development as a master couturier.

The Made-to-Order collection showcased detachable sleeves, capes and Bagatelle corsets to inspire brides to curate their own Westwood look from the collection.

The collection is created with an environmental conscience and reduced carbon footprint, with each piece designed, sampled and made locally in England. Sustainable fabrics in the collection include ivory Peace silk, a Tiny Stars jacquard in recycled polyester and an ivory FSC certified viscose – as a vegan alternative to silk.

The Made-to-Order 2021 collection includes; the Ball Tie with a graceful georgette or delicate lace detachable cape and the Leia corseted gown in silk taffeta or a custom recycled polyester jacquard, with a layered high slit and sweeping trains that was inspired by 25 years of couture at the atelier.

The Bagatelle dress and corset top are inspired by the Spring-Summer 1997 collection Vive La Bagatelle; in taffeta, silk duchess or Absence of Roses duchess. The romantic neckline is sculpted as draped fabric sweeps across the shoulder, anchored to an eighteenth-century inspired flat corset.

The Couture looks, handcrafted in the London atelier, feature playful exposed lace corsetry complimented with high slits, tulle trains and rose embroidery. Corseted ruffled mini dresses shimmering in lurex mounted on organza and the opulent Peace Cocotte gown in heavy silk is styled with a double satin Bird of Paradise apron train, creating baroque bride grandeur.
