This will be my first year covering Austin’s DeveloperWeek for Hi-Tech Chic and I’m intrigued on what I will learn while attending. Austin is also known for SXSW, Austin City Limits, Game Development, Filmmaking, and Live Music but what is Austin’s technology history? How did Austin become the epicenter of technology for Texas and possibly for the nation? Continue Reading →
TGIF Hi-Tech Chic fans!
This years event is said to be one of the largest conventions in Texas. will have a 45,000 square-foot vendor and event hall to showcase and celebrate classic and retro video games. The two day fest includes free play on hundreds of retro game systems and arcades, retro game tournaments, costume contests, live video game musicians, a retro game museum and a large marketplace to sell, fix or buy your own retro games and consoles.*
Though most want to see my Waldo costume I’m changing it up a bit with my LED shoelaces, Flashton Statement LED shirt and retro hi tops. Also, since it’s National Dance Day on Saturday I will be doing the “running man” in front of as many booths as I can and will post the videos on YouTube. If you see me come take a picture of me and do the running man next to me or Kid n’ Play. I will also be at the Tekforce show on Sunday at noon.
AND GET THIS….
The Classic Game Fest will also be hosting a Pokemon Go meetup area complete with ongoing lures during the festivities! There are TONS of PokeStops near the event, and there’s even a Gym across the event lawn.
I hope those that reside in Austin will be attending one of the largest retro gaming convention. If not you can find me or send a DM to @nrpena.
Today I leave to LA for E3 for 2 full days of gaming and entertainment fun. I’m enjoying the quiet before the E3 storm but excited to check out all the new technology. During the show I will be tweeting on @nrpena, @cutegeek, and @hitechchic. I will also be (or hope to at least) loading videos to the cutegeek youtube channel and my youtube channel. Lastly I will post on my facebook page as well so all of you can hear about all the cool new games and technology at E3 on any of my social media platforms.
My plan of attack is to spend half my time at the convention center and the other half outside the convention center at events, press conferences and lounges. I’ll also be in and out of the media room so if you’re press and see me come by and chat. I love chatting with my peers because we all have a different point of view on events and new technology.
I will also be wearing a Where’s Waldo costume on the 14th so if you see me come say hi! Also while supplies last I will handing out HtC fake tattoos to support our first year at E3 since our September launch (Note: I only have 30 left).
Here is a before the show video of E3 2016 to get all you guys hyped up for tomorrow! Enjoy and see you gaming geeks in LA!
