Sustainable Fashion Week 2020 Announces September Event Dates

Today, Sustainable Fashion Week (SFW2020) announced that the 2020 event will take place from September 11th to September 16th at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City and the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark. SFW2020 is a six-day event showcasing sustainable fashion exhibits, giving visuals on what is sustainable fashion and why it’s the future of fashion. SFW2020 will include immersive online experiences and global viewing for a week of runway shows, panel discussions, documentary features, and instructional workshops.

Due to COVID-19 the event has a few updates for designers and participants for SFW2020:

  • Designers have the option for attending in person or shipping their items. Designer applications are now open at www.sustainablefashionweek.us.
  • ALL shows and events will be live-streamed.
  • Virtual vendor lounges will be available throughout the event.
  • In person attendance will be based on strict social distancing guidelines. (Max attendance TBD.)

Due to the over-consumption of goods that has led to an alarming rate of production, SFW2020 is necessary to bring awareness to this ongoing problem while providing a platform for emerging, sustainable designers. Currently, how, and where we make our clothes adds a toxic mix, making the fashion industry second to oil as the most polluting industry.

By identifying alternative methods of clothing production, SFW2020 will show what comes next in the fashion industry not only through design but also alternate means of production. Designers will showcase recycled, repurposed, renewable, reusable, and eco-friendly options for creating clothing which offers real solutions to the crisis overtaking the fashion industry.

Sustainable Fashion Week will showcase over 70 designers from emerging sustainable designers, established sustainable designers to vintage curators.
