NEW: 2020 Newchic Designer Contest

Celebrity fashion designer and contestant on Netflix’s “Next In Fashion”, Ashton Hirota will be hosting Newchic’s 2020 Newchic Designer Contest which has already kicked off earlier this month. Newchic is a fashion brand determined to disrupt the fast fashion industry by celebrating and highlighting the importance of individuality, accessibility, and socially conscious apparel. The contest encourages passionate and dedicated designers of all ages worldwide to share their unique style and vision behind their designs in this year’s seven-week competition.

Contest Dates Open: September 14, 2020 – October 24, 2020

  • The top 10 will be announced October 6, 2020
  • Top three finalists will be announced October 24, 2020

How to enter:

Contest Theme: Post-Quarantine State of Mind

What are you most looking forward to in 2021? How do you imagine your post- quarantine mood will look and feel? You must incorporate (as concretely or abstractly as you wish) the following keywords into your design:Hopeful. Everyday. Unique.

Contest Look: Complete Outfit + Mask

To be eligible, your design must form a complete look. This means: a top + bottom + mask, dress + mask, onesie + mask, or some other combination of clothing items that covers the body and includes a face covering. As long as your design checks these boxes, the sky’s the limit! *Mask is required because the Top 10 designs will be tried on by models and judged in person.

What the contest entails:

  • The top ten participants will hand-make their designs and ship to Los Angeles for final judgment. The pieces will be modeled for a photoshoot, and the top three will be selected

What the top three finalists win:

  • A mentorship from leading fashion industry veterans and professionals
  • A cash award
  • A manufacturing sponsorship from Newchic
  • A chance for the winners’ entire sets to be completely manufactured by Newchic and be featured exclusively on Newchic’s website for sale
