Founded as a hashtag in 2013, June 1st marks the start of Black Lives Matter Month, an opportunity for all Americans to make a stand against racism and racially-motivated violence. In honor of BLM month and Juneteenth this weekend, we created a list of fantastic and inspiring black-owned businesses to check out.

The Transformation Factory

Sea Moss Transformation is a black-owned and operated business founded by entrepreneur Alexiou Gibson. The brand offers premium wildcrafted Sea Moss gels in raw and fruit flavors featuring all the essential minerals for the human body. Alexiou’s journey to change his lifestyle resulted in a considerable weight loss from 500 pounds. NOLAs Finest Pet Care, Louisiana’s first bi-black-owned pet business recently launched “Ask the Pet Expert,” a feature allowing pet parents to book a private zoom session and receive tailored advice and tips. Their online shop offers uniquely painted or sketched New Orleans inspired stationery, home décor, clothing, pet gifts, gift sets and more.
