This year at Art Basel Miami Beach this year at the Jewish Museum of Florida (FIU) Daniel Chimowitz, will display “Walking Canvases” which is THE first-ever museum show by the internationally renowned artist and fashion designer.
What is Art Basel?
Art Basel is an annual art fair that takes place in Basel, Switzerland, Miami Beach, Florida, and Hong Kong, selling established and emerging artists works. The commercial fairs attract a large international audience of art spectators and students plus provide a platform for galleries to show and sell their work to buyers. The Art Basel fair that takes place from December 6th through the 9th will have over 200 of the world’s leading international Modern and contemporary art galleries display artworks by over 4,000 artists, including paintings, sculptures, installations, photography, film, video, and digital art.
Daniel Chimowitz’s Exhibit:
Daniel Chimowitz’s exhibition will feature seven murals by Chimowitz, 32 new fashion ensembles, two paintings by Chimowitz, two murals by Miami graffiti artist Freddy Aquino, and a selfie-booth by Miami artist Evo Love. Suspended from the ceiling is a 10-foot kimono. It also has fashions that reflect different when using photographing with a flash since they’re made from reflective material inspired by emergency first-responders.
Daniel Chimowitz’s is known for creating walking canvases of painted images on hand-sewn and upcycled clothing, Chimowitz combines fine art with the energy of street art and fashion. For the world premiere exhibition, Chimowitz has created all new works, never before seen, along with site-specific murals and installations.
Daniel Chimowitz’s Art Basel Event:
Daniel Chimowitz will be making a special appearance to greet the public on December 9 at 10:00 a.m. for the Jewish Museum of Florida museum’s annual Sunday brunch during the week of Art Basel Miami Beach. “I design to empower men and women to be warriors in their own right,” said Daniel Chimowitz. “All fashion is about confidence. The more confident you are, the more willing you are to stand out and be original.”
