SXSW 2019 Featured Speakers and Music Updates

Though Austin City limits Festival has taken over Austin South By Southwest (SXSW) Planning is in full swing! South By Southwest (SXSW) 2019 Interactive, Music and Film Festival is in Austin, Texas from March 8th through March 17th. What use to be a small festival in the 80’s is now an international festival that combines technology, film and music. SXSW has become the event to attend if you are an aspiring artist.  As SXSW 2019 planning continues here are the latest SXSW 2019 updates and news.

SXSW Featured Speakers

SXSW has announced the addition of Keynote Joseph Lubin plus a new round of Featured Speakers to the 2019 programming lineup. Joseph Lubin is the Founder of ConsenSys, a blockchain production studio that develops applications and utilities for the next generation decentralized web: Ethereum.

SXSW’s current featured speakers lineup are actor, comedian and writer Ike Barinholtz; VP of Amazon Web Services Sandy Carter; award-winning chef Dominique Crenn; cannabis rights activist Steve DeAngelo; multi-platinum songwriter Ross Golan; actor Jesse Tyler Ferguson; Senior Advisor to the Obama Foundation and author Valerie Jarrett; musician Wyclef Jean; Director of the Digital Currency Initiative at the MIT Media Lab Neha Narula; author and entrepreneur Neil Pasricha; former Starbucks Chairman and CEO Howard Schultz; actress and entrepreneur Zoe Saldana; award-winning journalist and author Maria Shriver; EU Commissioner for Competition Margrethe Vestager; author Frank Warren; author and Kiip co-founder and CEO Brian Wong; actress and comedian Sasheer Zamata; CNN Worldwide President Jeff Zucker, and more.

SXSW will announce their first round of SXSW 2019 Music Festival artist confirmations on Wednesday, October 17. If want to submit your application to perform at SXSW you still have until Thursday, October 25, to send in your Showcase Applications for 2019. This will be my 5th time attending as press and covering SXSW live, here in my hometown of Austin. Each year the festival continues to grow especially in tech with their addition of gaming a couple years back.
