Black Fret Launches Austin Love & Lightstream; A Live Stream of Austin Music

Yesterday Black Fret, a public charity headquartered in Austin, kicked off Austin Love & Lightstream virtual event that will live stream 6 hours of Austin music live from Scholz Garten in Austin, Texas. Planned for an initial five day run through Saturday, March 21st from Scholz Garten, Austin Love & Lightstream is a local response to the cancellation of SXSW and the ongoing COVID-19 Pandemic. The event is closed to the public and taking place on a sterilized outdoor sound stage at Scholz Garten.

The City of Austin Announces Cancellation of SXSW 2020 March Events Due to the Coronavirus

Even though there were concerns and petitions to cancel the SXSW 2020 Conference and Festival due to the massive spread of the coronavirus as of this morning it was still on surprisingly! Announced today, March 6th and just one week before the infamous SXSW Conference and Festival, the City of Austin have canceled the March dates for SXSW and SXSW EDU. SXSW has stated today that they will faithfully follow the City’s directions.

The month of March is Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day also happens in March on the 8th of 2020. In honor both, the #WikiHerStory initiative aims to help close the gender gap on Wikipedia, the world’s largest online encyclopedia. Launched by the Wikimedia Foundation, the non-profit that operates Wikipedia, #WikiHerStory brings together a collection of resources, events, and feature stories of the change-making women who make Wikipedia possible.
