SLAM, short for symmetric linear acoustic modulator, is a technology Audeze introduced on their flagship CRBN2 electrostatic headphone in 2024. It uses precisely tuned acoustic channels to selectively enhance low frequencies and enable more linear, accurate diaphragm movement. For the first time, SLAM allows the LCD-S20 to deliver a richer, more lifelike low end, and more accurate fine detail for precise soundstage presentation compared to similar closed-back headphones.

The LCD-S20 is built for long-term comfort and ease, featuring soft, supportive synthetic leather earpads and a user-replaceable head strap. As the first Audeze headphone with a magnetic earpad attachment, it enables quick and effortless swapping. A detachable single-sided cable connects to either earcup, allowing users to customize cable routing to suit their setup.

The LCD-S20 builds on Audeze’s acclaimed chassis, first introduced with the Maxwell headset in 2022. It features a spring-steel headband, forged aluminum yolks, and durable glass-infused nylon components. The earcups are finished in a refined woven cloth for a premium look. Inside, 90mm planar magnetic drivers—crafted in Audeze’s Southern California factory—incorporate patented Fluxor™ magnets, Fazor™ waveguides, and Uniforce™ voice coils, ensuring precise, ultra-low distortion sound.
