The world was shocked after hearing about the Ariana Grande Concert terrorist incident that happened yesterday in Manchester. Reported by NBC as of now there are 22 fatalities including children and 59 injured plus several people are still missing from this tragic event. As of now those that live in the area or nearby are urged to stay away per Mayor Andy Burham until further notice. Per Mayor Andy Burnham’s tweet for those stranded in the area and have access to twitter use #RoomForManchester where hotels and local people are offering refuge.

Strava, The Social Network for Athletes Announces the Figures for Global Bike to Work Day

Strava, the social network for athletes, has announced figures from their second Global Bike to Work Day, which took place on Thursday, May 11th.

This year saw 180,539 complete the challenge and a further 276,818 cycle commute activities uploaded to Strava on Thursday May 11th around the globe. In doing so, Strava commuters logged a total of 3.3 million miles on Global Bike to Work Day.

Key Statiscs from Global Bike to Work Day include:

  • 276,818 commute activities were logged on Strava around the globe
  • Global Bike to Work Day cyclists commuted 3.3 million miles on Thursday, May 11, 2017
  • Cyclists from 170 countries participated in the global event
  • 1,580 tons of carbon emissions were offset on the day
