The CFDA Announces NYFW Dates and the Return of In-Person Shows

As the country is starting to open back up, so are more annual events like New York Fashion Week (NYFW). Announced this week, the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) revealed the fall dates for New York Fashion Week, with shows beginning on Wednesday, September 8th, and ending on Sunday, September 12th.

Last year NYFW had to switch to a digital experience for the first time in Fashion Week history due to the pandemic. In fact, CFDA launched Runway360, an innovative digital platform developed to support designers by bringing together every aspect of a collection launch.

Thankfully due to the vaccination and states re-opening, NYFW attendees will be able to see models walk live once again! The CFDA anticipates the week to feature a return to in-person shows produced in adherence to New York State Health Guidelines, along with a continuation of digital collection presentations.

On the final day of shows, NYFW will finish with the Met Gala for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute exhibition “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion,” adding to the week’s celebration of the fashion industry and the city’s resilience and renewed vibrance.

“With current signs of progress in the pace of vaccinations and the strategic, gradual reopening and tangible reawakening of New York City, we look forward to a strong fashion season that celebrates the best of American fashion in both physical and digital presentation formats,” said Steven Kolb, CEO of the CFDA.

The official NYFW schedule is yet to be announced but can be found here: https://cfda.com/fashion-calendar. For more about NYFW please visit: https://cfda.com/nyfw.
