THE 24TH ANNUAL AUSTIN FILM FESTIVAL

The 24th Annual Austin Film Festival (AFF) is October 26th through November 2nd throughout downtown Austin. AFF is a non-profit organization dedicated to furthering the art, craft and business of writers and filmmakers and recognizing their contributions to film, television and new media.

AFF offers hundreds of films, TV premieres, and informative panels. The AFF Conference itself provides over 175 inspiring and interactive panels, roundtables and meet & greets with established screenwriters and filmmakers. The Conference conducts workshops on the core elements of screenwriting and filmmaking, including dialogue, story structure, character development, writing scripts that producers want to develop, overcoming writers block, producing your film on an indie budget, marketing your project and much more.

This week they announced their first wave of AFF Films that include such films as “24 Hours to Live” with Ethan Hawke and Liam Cunningham; “The Deuce” with James Franco, Maggie Gyllenhaal, and Zoe Kazan; “An Ordinary Man” with Ben Kingsley, Hera Hilmar, and Peter Serafinowicz plus many more! This is only the beginning of the wave of films to be at AFF. To view the long list of AFF’s first wave films click here.

Also, this year the AFF has expanded its corral to include not just screenwriters and television writers but also playwrights, fiction podcast writers and digital series writers. Does that include me as well?

The 24th Annual Austin Film Festival shows movies at theaters throughout downtown Austin and the surrounding area. Venues include The Paramount Theatre, The State Theatre, Alamo Drafthouse Village, The Long Center for the Performing Arts: Debra and Kevin Rollins Theatre, The Hideout Theater, and Galaxy Highland 10 Theatre. (Venues are subject to change each year). The Conference panels take place at The Driskill Hotel, Intercontinental Stephen F. Austin Hotel, Central Presbyterian Church, and St. David’s Church in the heart of downtown Austin.

AFF has four badge levels for entry into the festival. Badge holders have priority entry into all eight days of films and they also receive entry into Conference Panels (days dependent on badge level). For more information on the badges or to purchases the badges click here.
