SXSW 2019 Music Festival Announces Opening Party, the Outdoor Stage at Lady Bird Lake Line-Up and More Showcasing Artist From Around the World

SXSW 2019 Music Festival kicks off March 11-17 with performances at several venues throughout downtown Austin, the Outdoor Stage at Lady Bird Lake and ACL Live at Moody Theatre. Recently there have been several new artist showcasing updates, shows and events posted from the Music Opening Party to the SXSW Outdoor Stage at Lady Bird Lake line-up. The 2019 SXSW Music Festival also announced the 180 new showcasing artist and SXSW World Music Showcase artists from 64 countries around the world. Below are the latest updates for the music festival.

SXSW Music Opening Party sponsored by Music.com

A great way to kick off the music portion of SXSW is the SXSW Music Opening Party. The SXSW Music Opening Party sponsored by Music.com will take place on Tuesday, March 12 at The Main & The Main II from 6-9pm. The SXSW Music Festival Opening Party will have musical talent on two stages and complimentary beverages.

The lineup includes DC “sugar trap” act Rico Nasty, Damnably’s Japanese punks Otoboke Beaver, Congolese afro-techno group KOKOKO!, German robot maestro Moritz Simon Geist, and sunny electro pop duo Reyna Tropical. The SXSW Music Opening Party is open to Music and Platinum Badges as well as Artist Wristbands.

SXSW Outdoor Stage at Lady Bird Lake Line Up

Returning back to the Outdoor Stage at Lady Bird Lake, SXSW will have three nights of music on the lawn overlooking the lake and downtown Austin from March 14th through the 16th. These performances take place on SXSW’s largest stage and are open to all SXSW Badges, Wristbands, and is free to the public with the free SXSW Guest Pass.

On Thursday, March 14 SXSW kicks things off with anthemic alt-rock trio X Ambassadors, with support from soulful British singer-songwriter Jamie N Commons, Aussie R&B-inflected pop singer Odette, and LA pop-rock duo VOILÀ.

Atlanta hip hop/R&B/soul supergroup Dungeon Family featuring iconic rapper Big Boi, Organized Noize singer/producer Sleepy Brown, and hip-hop collective Goodie Mob headline the park on Friday, March 15, with support from Austin-based indie MC Abhi The Nomad and more TBA.

Saturday, March 16 features a performance from legendary Austin singer-songwriter Patty Griffin, with support from soft pop multi-instrumentalist Andrew Bird, Arizona-based folk singer Courtney Marie Andrews, and Americana guitar ace William Tyler.

KOCCA (Korea Creative Content Agency) is back for their 7th annual SXSW Music Festival showcase. To celebrate lucky number 7, Korea Spotlight presents another stellar lineup including iKON, CHUNG HA, Hitchhiker, Jambinai, XXX, and KIRARA.

The showcase will take place at Austin City Limits Live at the Moody on Wednesday, March 13. SXSW Platinum and Music Badges receive primary access to the event. Music and Platinum badgeholders receive primary access to official music showcases. Film and Interactive badgeholders, SXSW Showcasing Artist wristbands, and Music Festival wristbands have secondary access. All admissions subject to capacity. México Spotlight Voz de Mando, 3BallMTY, Agrupación Cariño, Comisario Pantera & Vanessa Zamora

The México Spotlight showcase features a lineup of Mexican artists currently topping Billboard charts, receiving MTV Awards, and garnering Latin Grammy nominations. The lineup includes Latin Grammy nominated Norteño band Voz de Mando, tribal electro-cumbia collective 3ball MTY, Mexico City-based cumbia group Agrupación Cariño, indie rock band Comisario Pantera, and pop act Vanessa Zamora.

The showcase will take place at Austin City Limits Live at the Moody on Thursday, March 14. SXSW Platinum and Music Badges receive primary access to the event.
