SwitchBot Unveils Smart Lock and Keypad Touch for Deadbolts

Today, SwitchBot, the global smart home brand, announced the availability of its Smart Lock which makes your door lock smart without refitting. The lock allows users to control their door to open or lock via smartphone or Apple Watch when back home.

SwitchBot Lock supports Bluetooth and the SwitchBot App can be used on a smartphone or Apple Watch to open it when getting home. The SwitchBot Lock has an automated lock feature so that when a person leaves their house, the door will automatically lock. With no refit needed for installation, the SwitchBot Lock uses 3M VHB to stick to the door and has a thumb-turn adapter to control the thumb-turn to lock or unlock.

Additionally, users can control unlock or lock remotely to let a family member or a friend in when they are not home yet by adding a SwitchBot Hub Mini. Both Google and Alexa voice assistants are supported to lock or unlock (to ensure security, users simply need to tell the voice assistant their pre-set password before opening their door).

Also, SwitchBot has launched a Keypad and Keypad Touch to work with Lock. The Keypad allows users to input password unlock the door whilst the Keypad Touch allows users to input password or use fingerprints to unlock the door. It is also possible to create and share a temporary passwords with the housekeepers or renters.

The Keypad Touch sits on the outside the door and houses a 9-digit keypad, lock button for instant security when leaving, and an enter key. Below that is a fingerprint reader that will unlocking the door quickly without the need to enter a key code.

The standard Keypad works in similar way but a number is required every time to gain entry. Also, It is possible to set temporary passcodes and fingerprints so guests can just let themselves in. On the app, users just need to set a start and end time, providing a small window where that code could be used and given to a friend or trusted individual.
