Square Off Launches New Video Calling Feature

While we are all currently stuck at home, there is a constant search for entertaining activities that you can do indoors. Square Off, the makers of the world’s smartest chessboard; a first of its kind App-connected board with automated movements., has further enhanced the experience of playing chess by introducing a video calling feature. Besides being able to play on the AI-enabled chessboard against other players from around the world, now one can also video call them.

Through the video calling feature, the users can connect with others anywhere in the world and play as though they were sitting in front of each other. Interestingly enough, though the current outbreak has put a halt to most sports around the world, chess has been on the rise. The new-found time, feasibility and appeal of online gaming, are some of the factors for its increased popularity.

Square Off’s products function in the upcoming realm of connected board gaming, with a focus on automated movements, adaptive AI, global connectivity, and personalized coaching making the boards quite desirable in the innovators and early adopters’ circles as well.

Square Off launched its pioneering automated chessboard in 2017. For the first time, players could connect with and play against other players from around the world, on their very own board enabled by telerobotics. What started with the first successful Kickstarter campaign, turned into more than 20,000 satisfied users, over $5 Million dollars in revenue, and $1.6 Million in equity funding from investors like Kstart Capital, India Quotient and RB Capital.

In October 2019, Square Off launched Neo, an ultra-affordable, automated chessboard, and Swap, a first-of-its-kind on Kickstarter and reached it’s goal. Now live on Indiegogo for pre-orders, Neo is $169.00 and the Swap is $199.00.
