MOVO UM300 Product Review:

When unboxing Movo’s UM300 USB Microphone you will find the microphone, 3mm Type-C to USB-A Cable, 2m Type-C to Type-C Cable and user manual. The microphone infrastructure consists of a metal mesh windscreen, headphone volume/ gain control, polar pattern LED indicators, polar pattern switch, fastening knobs, desk stand, type-c audio output, 3.5mm headphone jack and 5/8” threaded mount.

To set up the microphone, I first loosened the knobs on each side of the stand counterclockwise, adjusted the microphone to the desired angle and then tightened the knobs on each side of the stand again but now clockwise.  Next, I connected the microphone to my PC with the type-c cable and connected my headphones to the 3.5mm located on the microphone.

Once all connected to my PC, using Windows 10 I went into “settings” and chose “sound.” Within the sound settings, I selected under output “Speaker UM300” and under input I chose “Microphone UM300.” It’s a pretty easy plug-and-play set-up. Please note that when using Windows 7 or iOS that the set-up instructions are different but included within the user guide.

Now it was time to test out the audio using the polar patterns omnidirectional and cardioid.
