OmniFob: The World’s First All-In-One IoT Remote for Smart Homes and Connected Cars

Keyport, Inc., creator of streamlined universal access solutions, has launched its all-in-one IoT smart remote called OmniFob on Kickstarter. The OmniFob is a finger-sized key fob that transforms any standard keychain into a smart remote by providing quick and easy access to a user’s connected functions. Users can open their garage, unlock their door, turn on their lights, start their car, find their keys, call for help, and more all in one VERY smart fob that attaches easily to any conventional keychain and that is also compatible with Keyport’s modular Slide 3.0, Pivot, and Anywhere Tools.

Using the OmniFob is simple and convenient since you do not have to lug around multiple cumbersome remotes, pull out your oversized smartphone or have to use both hands when you’re on the go or have your hands full. With easy one-handed operation and a customizable set of quick controls, OmniFob allows the user to control a broad spectrum of smart home devices such as smart locks, garage doors via Nexx Garage, home security, smart lights, smart plugs, and more.

Compatible with many of the most popular smart home products through integrations with Samsung SmartThings and Yonomi, OmniFob includes scene support allowing for one-click control of multiple devices at once.

Alongside smart home, OmniFob can control vehicle access through select aftermarket smart systems such as MoboKey. OmniFob is compatible with MoboKey’s full range of products from its DIY installed lock/unlock solution to its premium system featuring remote start, keyless entry, and trunk.

OmniFob is also compatible with Blue Eclipse’s BluRemote (due out in early-2020) which offers connected control of OEM and aftermarket remote functions for any car, garage door, or home security alarm without the need for professional installation.

OmniFob can augment a user’s personal safety by serving as a panic button. In case the user is unable to reach his or her smartphone, clicking the designated panic button quick control on OmniFob will send a preset message to designated recipients along with GPS coordinates via the phone so long as it is within Bluetooth range. Keyport is in discussions to incorporate a direct connect to local emergency services.

“Security is paramount for OmniFob, and not just personal security, but IoT security as well. No biometrics. No direct device connections. No private data or history stored on the device. No unencrypted transfer of data. All the heavy lifting is done by the phone in an effort to reduce security vulnerabilities,” detailed Josh Downes, Keyport’s Founder & Chief Product Designer.

OmniFob comes equipped with a built-in Bluetooth Low Energy locator powered by award-winning Chipolo. With Chipolo, users can locate a misplaced OmniFob using the Chipolo app or ring their smartphone with the click of a button on their OmniFob. Chipolo works with Alexa, Google Home, and Siri, so users can also use voice to ring their OmniFob.

The suggested retail price of Omnifob is $129 with an expected ship date of Q1 2020 and more information can be found here: https://www.mykeyport.com/blog/first-peek-at-omnifob-all-in-one-smart-fob.
