No Uber or Lyft in Your City? Try the Fasten App Instead!

fastenThere’s an old saying “It’s all fun and games until someone loses an eye” which sums up the Uber and Lyft situation that happened in Austin, Texas over the summer. I’m an Austin native and I can attest that the traffic situation in Austin is ridiculous. I have witnessed road rage, people constantly flipping the bird and people laying on the horn in rush hour traffic.  I’ve also seen allot of drunk driving coming from a night out on the infamous 6th street.

When Uber and Lyft came to Austin it was heaven sent; less people on the road and less drunk drivers. It was like it happened overnight; instantly most people in the city either had the Uber or Lyft app. This summer our glorious days of using Uber or Lyft were no longer. Austin passed a new law requiring that ridesharing drivers MUST be fingerprinted as part of their background check. Unfortunately because of this new law Uber and Lyft pulled out of Austin. They argue that fingerprint background checks present an unnecessary regulatory and operational burden. fasten-screen

As all of us ride sharing customers frantically looked for another ride hailing app the former Uber and Lyft drivers were also looking for a new ride sharing company to work for. I tried a few other ride sharing apps and wasn’t happy with my options till I installed the fasten app. It pretty much works like the Uber or Lyft app showing the live map of where your ride is after you requested a ride. It also shows your fair in real time and alerts you of bad weather or traffic. I have found now using the fasten app for a couple months there is a lot of former Uber or Lyft drivers now work at fasten.

The fasten app is very simple to use once you download it and set up your profile it’s smooth sailing and just a swipe away from ordering your ride. The app is free and my experiences with fasten have all been VERY pleasant. I suggest trying the fasten app out and see if you like it as an alternative for Uber and Lyft.
