Interior Releases New Fall/Winter 2022 Collection During NYFW

Interior, a women’s ready-to-wear brand, unveiled their Fall/ Winter 2022 Collection during New York Fashion Week (NYFW). The Fall/Winter 2022 Collection is a view through a dark, distorted lens. One that makes the familiar suddenly unfamiliar and the beautiful slightly grotesque.

The building blocks of this new, dystopian wardrobe are a story told in subverted essentials: a weighty fisherman sweater with a chaotic cable pattern, sumptuous leather trousers are fastened by crude metal buttons and plush, crushed velvet tailoring is cut in boxy silhouettes.

The supremely warm Sleeping Bag Puffer provides cover, while the seasonal update to the cult-favorite Leo Coat is executed in a long-haired brown shearling that is both crude and luxe simultaneously.

Amidst these extremes there are moments of levity and playfulness for which Interior has become known. A hand-painted suit by artist Richard Haines displays trompe l’oeil style lines in his distinctive, gestural hand, evoking a joyful optimism.

FW22 offers an update to the brand’s signature Valencia Dress: a strapless micro mini rendered in colorful fringed chiffon. The season’s dinner shirt is a decidedly darker take on the brand trademark: a hand-embroidered mohair spiderweb embroidered on celery silk satin.

These opposing forces of fallout and hope coalesce in the season’s finale gowns: a hooded sheath made of shimmering sequined netting and an ethereal silk metal dress that is equal parts beautiful and decrepit.

This mix of light and dark, heaviness and levity signifies an essential tension in the season’s product offering. It defines a collection coming to terms with the world we live in today.

About Interior

Interior was established in 2020 by Jack Miner and Lily Miesmer. The collection offers a nuanced and idiosyncratic approach to daily dressing –– each product-driven assortment is a pastiche of sportswear, tailoring and eveningwear that is future-facing with a tinge of nostalgia.

Focused on craftsmanship, fit and fabrication, the clothes themselves are a mix of staples elevated to new heights and decidedly special pieces that signify the peaks and valleys of our wardrobes, all of which are meant to be thrown together with irreverence. The name Interior was chosen for its playful misdirect: clothes, by their very nature, are worn on one’s exterior. Yet the name also points to our shared inner emotional landscape: our interiority.
