Apps for cross-posting stories for social media continues to expand throughout several different platforms at a rapid rate. According to TechCrunch the newest app to be tested is the WhatsApp that Instagram is working on where Instagram users can post stories directly to the app. The WhatsApp is a free app that offers simple, secure, reliable messaging and calling, available on phones globally.
WhatsApp Features Include:
- Texts: WhatsApp uses your phone’s Internet connection to send messages so you can avoid SMS fees.
- Group Chat: Using group chats, you can share messages, photos, and videos with up to 256 people at once. You can also name your group, mute or customize notifications, and more.
- Photos and Videos: Send photos and videos on WhatsApp instantly. With WhatsApp, photos and videos send quickly even if you’re on a slow connection.
- End-to-end encryption: With end-to-end encrypted, your messages and calls are secured so only you and the person you’re communicating with can read or listen to them, and nobody in between, not even WhatsApp.
- Documents: Send PDFs, documents, spreadsheets, slideshows and more, without the hassle of email or file sharing apps. You can send documents up to 100 MB, so it’s easy to get what you need over to who you want.
- Voice Messages: Sometimes, your voice says it all. With just one tap you can record a Voice Message, perfect for a quick hello or a longer story.

Per TechCrunch, the feature is currently being tested with a small number of users. TechCrunch also states that it’s based on publicly available code that WhatsApp makes available to integrate WhatsApp messaging with third-party apps on the web or on Android. Users get an option to tap to share to WhatsApp from the Instagram sharing screen, but they still have to press “send” in WhatsApp to post the story.
