Just a week ago most American’s were glued to the news and TV watching Hurricane Michael hit the Florida and Georgia shore. The hurricane with winds of 155mph damaged 16,000 single residences and more than 4,000 have been destroyed with 26 people currently found deceased. It’s clear we all need to band together and help those affected by Hurricane Michael.

We have gathered a small list of organizations that are accepting donations for Hurricane Michael victims and some are accepting volunteers. Below is information on how to donate through Save the Children, American Red Cross and Samaritan’s Purse for Hurricane Michael relief.

Save the Children

After Hurricane Michael hit Florida and Georgia the Save the Children organization has established an initial base of operations in Tallahassee, Florida. They will expand their efforts as soon as roads to the coastline communities are opened and deemed safe for travel.

Currently, essential child-focused supplies are being delivered in the area, and Save the Children coordinating with national and state partners to assess children’s immediate needs in shelters and communities.

Another great donation site for Hurricane Michael victims and also is accepting volunteers is Samaritan’s Purse. During a National Disaster Samaritan’s Purse mobilizes staff and enlists thousands of volunteers to provide emergency aid to victims. Currently, Samaritan’s Purse volunteers have begun working in the Florida Panhandle and Albany.

Volunteers will be assisting homeowners by helping with roof tarping, chainsaw work and debris cleanup. They are taking volunteers but you must sign up first and receive confirmation from the Samaritan’s Purse staff. Sign Up To Volunteer.
