Final Installment of the CES 2018 Recaps: Samsung, Sony, Dell, HP and Lenovo Product Launches

CES 2018 was the largest show floor in CES’ 51 year history and they aren’t lying, everything was packed in Vegas with CES attendees. There was no place to hide! CES 2018 had more than 3,900 exhibitors showcasing innovative technologies that spanned more than 2.75 million net square feet of exhibit space across Las Vegas. Needless to say the tech geeks definitely took over CES 2018.

This post is the last of the 3 installments of the CES 2018 Recap as we have already posted about Eureka Park and AI technologies. This post features the products launched by major technology consumer brands launched at CES 2018. Below you will find lists of products launched from Samsung, Sony, Dell, HP, and Lenovo.

Samsung

Samsung not only had a huge presence at CES 2018 but they also had more products launched than their competitors, they definitely stepped it up this year. Check out all they launched at CES, it’s amazing!

  • Samsung‘s modular TV, called “The Wall,” lets you configure your television to whatever size you want. It showed off a 146-inch version at CES.
  • Bixby support in Samsung’s 2018 TVs will let you search for TV shows and movies, ask for a weather report, turn on the lights, play a song from Spotify, show photos from the cloud and even play trivia.
  • Samsung’s Samsung’s best TV uses QLED, local dimming to challenge OLED, not yet named, features QLED technology to compete with OLED (Samsung uses OLED in its mobile devices but not its TVs).
  • The Q9S TV, which Samsung calls the first 85-inch 8K TV with artificial intelligence, promises to make 4K content look better on the screen.

  • The SmartThings app is coming to the Gear S3 this year to let you control your lights and other smart devices from your wrist.
  • 90 percent of Samsung’s devices are already Internet connected. By 2020, all will be. And that year, all will also have intelligence from Bixby.
  • New laptops, including the Notebook 7 Spin, a 360-degree clamshell-to-tablet convertible laptop.

Dell

I had the chance to stop by Dell before my Sand’s Expo adventure and I was impressed with their 4K displays, they were beautiful to see in person. The rest of the products I can’t say I was “wow’d” by then again I wasn’t impressed with much of the PC technology displayed at CES this year. Below are the products launched by Dell.

  • XPS 13 now better by every measure—smaller, thinner, lighter, with InfinityEdge 4K display in stunning Rose Gold and Alpine White color combo
  • New XPS 15 2-in-1, the most powerful and smallest of its kind, boasts serious horsepower with 8th Gen Intel® Core™ processor with Radeon™ RX Vega M graphics
  • New Dell Mobile Connect software wirelessly integrates smartphones and Dell PCs
  • New Alienware Command Center manages gaming environment and unlocks full rig performance
  • Alienware and Dell technology power first eSports training centers for Team Liquid
  • Updated Latitude portfolio delivers more productivity for mobile professionals

HP

I briefly passed by the HP booth a couple times during CES to check out their products but there was very little displayed in comparison to their competitors. Comparing the Dell experience at CES 2018 versus the HP booths is like comparing apples to oranges. Very odd for HP but I heard they preferred to do briefings instead this year. Below is their list of products launched at CES 2018. Notice Dell and HP both launched 6 products this year, coincidence?

  • HP Spectre x360 15, the world’s most powerful convertible PC1, is designed for creative enthusiasts.
  • HP ENVY x2 is powered by Intel® Core™ offering long battery life and an Always-Connected PC experience.
  • HP Z 3D Camera for reinventing creative workflows and sparking spontaneous collaboration.
  • HP Pavilion Wave brings the Amazon Alexa2 for Windows 10 experience to the powerful and beautiful compact desktop.
  • OMEN Game Stream brings the power of OMEN to any Windows 10 PC3 in any location with internet connection.
  • OMEN X 65 Big Format Gaming Display with NVIDIA G-Sync™ delivers an immersive 65” diagonal HDR immersive gaming experience.

Lenovo

I stopped by Lenovo while at the Venetian for the Sand’s Expo and the scene was pretty hip which is odd since I don’t think hip and Lenovo belong in the same sentence. I did check out the world’s first standalone VR headset, Daydream, and it’s pretty sleek. I do have to be honest, I’m jaded since I’m always submersed in technology but all VR headsets on market seem to pretty much be the same. I haven’t been impressed with a VR headset in a while and this is no exception. Below are the other products that Lenovo launched during CES 2018.

  • Lenovo Mirage Solo with Daydream VR Headset
  • Lenovo Mirage Camera with Daydream
  • Lenovo Smart Display
  • Lenovo Miix 630
  • ThinkPad X1 family
  • ThinkPad X, T, L series
