Dreamhack Gaming Festival 2018 to Invade Austin This Weekend; Let the Games Begin!

This weekend Dreamhack, the world’s premier digital gaming festival, will be invading Austin with hackathons, eSports, open gaming tournaments and their gaming expo at the Austin Convention Center. The Dreamhack weekend in Austin consists of more than $400,000 in eSports tournaments, a 24-hour lan party, dream expo, cosplay competition and live music since Austin is the Live Music Capital of the World. Below is the rundown of the most popular events thus far however you never know what surprises we may encounter attending Dreamhack Live!

eSports:
The eSports events draw more crowds than most of the gaming events. Did you know that in 2016, worldwide revenues generated in the eSports market amounted to 492.7 million U.S. dollars per Statista. Furthermore, Statista has predicted by 2020, the market is expected to generate over 1.48 billion U.S. dollars in revenues, which indicates a compound annual growth rate of 32 percent. eSports is clearly one of the main draws of Dreamhack and here is the skinny on what eSports event you should check out while there. Dreamhack’s eSports zone features multiple professional eSport tournaments and open competitions where amateurs compete with the pros. Games confirmed for the eSports are below however there may be others throughout the Dreamhack Festival.
