CES 2018 New Safety Regulations for Attendees and Conference Updates

CES in Las Vegas that takes place January 9-12, 2018 is still scheduled to happen despite of the mass shooting that recently took place October 1st. CES staff will continue to monitor the situation and the CES conference plus they will continue to work in close cooperation with law enforcement officials at all levels to maximize security on-site at CES. There are some new regulations attending CES and also new updates recently announced. See below on the latest CES 2018 information and news.

CES 2018 New Registration Requirements:

Throughout the years CES has implemented bag restrictions, metal detectors and collected date of birth information as part of their security measures. Due to the shootings and an effort to keep attendees safe for CES 2018, they are putting into effect photo ID badges. The photo badge MUST be accompanied by a government-issued photo ID before entering CES show venues. Below is the information you will need to register and comply with their new regulations.

  • A unique, verifiable email address is required for each registrant.
  • CES 2018 badges will now include a photo ID for attendees and media.
  • Date of birth will again be required in line with guidance from federal law enforcement and industry best practices.

CES Unveiled (Media and Exhibitors Only Event):

CES Unveiled Las Vegas is the official media event of CES with press and industry analysts from more 150 countries. Unveiled takes place before the start of CES and one of my personal favorite events. CES Unveiled event has more than 1,500 influential media from around the world and will feature the CES 2018 Best of Innovation Awards Honorees and tabletop displays from more than 100 local and global tech companies.

The confirmed CES keynote and panel speakers as of now include:

  • Hulu CEO Randy Freer and Turner Chairman and CEO John Martin will speak at the keynote panel, “Reimagining Television.”
  • Intel CEO Brian Krzanich, focusing on 5G, AI and VR;
  • CTA President and CEO Gary Shapiro, addressing the state of the tech industry and how technology is improving lives;
  • Ford President and CEO Jim Hackett, addressing the development of mobility solutions and smart city landscapes;
  • Huawei CEO Richard Yu, exploring the future of connectivity; and
  • Lyft Co-Founder and President John Zimmer, speaking at the Leaders in Technology Dinner.
