Bill Murray is Coming to Austin Spring of 2018

Bill Murray is coming to Austin March 18th at 7:30PM and performing with Jan Vogler & Friends at the Long Center for the Performing Arts. The performance will include Jan Vogler (cello), Mira Wang (violin), and Vanessa Perez (piano).

Ironically this will also be on the last day of the South By Southwest (SXSW) Festival, Austin’s annual music, film, interactive and gaming festival.

The background story for this event, per Austin DO512, is that Bill Murray and Jan Vogler met during their travels and became friends in New York. Curious about each other’s artistic world and interests, the actor and the cellist soon had the idea to work together on a project.

A program that showcases the core of the American values in literature and music. A Show that communicates the bridges artists have built between America and Europe. Twain, Hemingway, Whitman, Cooper, Bernstein, Gershwin and Foster are some of the strongest voices that influenced generations of humans in America and gave the world a picture of the charm, energy and creative force of the New World.

In 2017, their idea for a joint program celebrates its premiere. The Hollywood star’s love for classical music is young and his art of language boundless. All the more reason to look forward to a fascinating encounter between great music and great literature featuring two masters of their art. “I am bathing in this experience, really,” says Murray. “I can’t get enough of it.”

I’m personally a huge fan of Bill Murray. I’ve always heard of the stories of him randomly showing up at people’s party and always wished that happened to me. It hasn’t. I’m intrigued what the performance will consist of but if it’s Bill Murray it will be awesome in my eyes.

Tickets for the Bill Murray with Jan Vogler & Friends March 18th show are located here and start at $59.00. For more information click here.
