Aviator Nation Opens New Shop in Austin During ACL 2018

I am ecstatic to announce and welcome to the SoCo neighborhood in Austin, Aviator Nation, a 70’s-inspired California lifestyle brand. They just opened its first shop in Austin on 1325 South Congress Avenue just in the nick of time for Austin City Limits Festival (ACL). For years Aviator Nation has been creating exclusive merchandise for ACL in the “Artists Village” and for the 7th year running it only fitting to have their first shop open during ACL 2018!

The new Aviator Nation shop in Austin is designed with 70’s California causal beach going time period. Walking in the new store think of surf board, skateboards and hanging out at a chill California beach during that time when viewing their new product line. To bring a unique design for the Austin shop founder, Paige Mycoskie (Texas native), brought in two artists, Samantha Thomas (Texas native) and local Austin artist, Brooke Robinson, to create oversized, unbelievably vibrant murals that cover the shop’s walls.

This will be Aviator Nation’s largest store to date and will be stocked with a collection that includes; sweats, hoodies, tees, tanks, outerwear, activewear and swim for women, men and kids. The store will also carry styles that are exclusive to Austin.

I was fortunate to attend to the grand opening of the Aviator Nation shop located on the infamous South Congress Ave next to Amy’s Ice Cream, Home Slice, Guero’s, Jo’s Coffee “I love you so much” and most famous the Continental Club. The new shop was full of so much nostalgic décor from the Elton John Poster, to the old school skateboards on the wall to the wall of guitars not to mention the vast amount of rainbows.

They had some vibrant velvet sweats, hoodies, swimwear and yoga tights on display along with unique logoed t-shirts. What makes the Austin Aviator Nation shop further unique is that it features a full-size stage with state of the art sound system so that bands can just drop in and play. That is very fitting to the Austin culture since we are the live music capital of the world! For a shop, especially on South Congress where space has limited the stage was quite large, impressive. They had some great Austin specific hats and t-shirts that we locals understand, maybe not a tourist but hey us Austinites like to “Keep Austin Weird.”

The Aviator Nation shop on South Congress throughout ACL will be hosting ACL afterparties with local musical guests (timing and bands TBD – check their site) throughout the festival as one way to celebrate homegrown Austin talent.  Post-festival, Aviator Nation will host monthly in-store events to really support local bands and artists with the goal to create a rad hangout for Austin’s community of creatives. Being part of this neighborhood and all the gentrification happening on South Congress is it nice to know companies like Aviator Nation support local talent.
