Austin’s Bud Light Summer Live Series Featuring Band of Heathens and Houndmouth

The third and final installment of the Bud Light Summer Live Series went off without a hinge last Thursday, August 23. Under the organization of Bud Light, The Austin-American Statesman warehouse was transformed into a tavern-esque venue to create a one-of-a-kind concert experience for attendees. Giant scrolls of paper finished off the unique ambience and outlined the warehouse which reportedly accommodated 2,000 attendees.

For each installment of the Summer Live Series Bud Light made a donation to a partnering non-profit organization. For the August 23 concert the Austin Creative Alliance was the recipient. Austin Creative Alliance provides a range of programs and services that aid the needs of the arts community in Austin.

Before the concert, guests could cheer on their favorite armadillo as they raced for the finish line, enjoy complimentary beer, food trucks and live music from DJ Diggy Dutch.

VIP guests, were treated to a catered feast from the Crave Catering Company. The spread included a build your own avocado bar complete with all the standard fixin’s and more exotic toppings like red and black caviar. Patrons also had the option to make their own beef, chicken or veggie taco and top it off with fresh queso and salsa.

Austin native, Band of Heathens kicked off the music portion of the evening. The American Rock and Roll band is currently on tour promoting their fifth studio album, Duende. The album title is a Spanish word that means a quality of inspiration and passion, a heightened sense of emotion, expression and authenticity, and a spirit. According to the band’s bio, the word is fitting for the album as “it certainly applies to its overall theme about the collective search for connection and communion in a technology-fueled world increasingly splintered, distracted and lonely.” To read more about the inspiration behind their latest album, visit the band’s website.

Houndmouth closed out the evening with their musical stylings. The Indiana band with a vintage country vibe is best known for their hit single Sedona. They also played additional songs from their second LP, Little Neon Limelight which was released in early 2015. Please visit the band’s website for upcoming tour dates and information on their latest album.
